Om Alpakka Enghaugen

What a moment!!

It may look like any day at Alpaca Enghaugen, but actually it is a very special day!

Alita, the alpaca who eats food from my hand in the picture came to us in 2006 as one of the first alpacas.
She is originally from Chile, and has always been a bit skeptical of everything and everyone. She has a strong opinions when we vaccinate and handle the alpacas, she demonstrates clearly with body language and well-aimed spit at me, to show that she disagrees.

Alita is the world's best mother and takes care of her babien the best possible way. She even lets Casanova, who's mother wouldn't nurse, to nurse from her.

The other alpacas eats food from my hand, but Alita has always stood in the background and watched it all with a little skepticism and distrust.

Until now!

Same day quarantine period was lifted, Alita decided to try the food in my hand for the first time ever!
This may seem like nothing to be excited about, but for those us who loves animals and live with and for them, can understand the breakthrough this is and how I felt. And probably guess what Alita felt;)

For a moment this was!

The confidence and trust she showed me by eating food from my hand is like a happy moment and an indescribable feeling.
